Freeman House

My regular client Freeman Builders Ltd contacted me for a new high value spec home on a great north facing elevated site at Nelson's Panorama Heights. The brief was for wow factor but without tricky detailing (for easy construction) or any risky junctions that might leak in the future (and cause 'call backs').

The steep site with south right of way access called for a contemporary styled generous family home that had an 'easy' relationship with the ground to allow low cost and stable engineering solutions while providing ease of access to natural ground levels from both storeys.

While not a passive solar home, this is definitely an energy efficient home with full north sun access to all living and bedrooms. The views are all centred on north too so this will be a sought after property when completed. All Douglas fir timber frame with full levels of insulation throughout. Claddings are Linea weatherboard and Titan panel with expressed joints. Main living rooms have sloping ceilings lined with natural grooved plywood.
