Solabode Affordable Pre-Fab Modular Eco Homes; a set of modular starter homes made from NZ grown pine plywood and LVL using technology by Potius Building Systems Ltd of Nelson.
These designs offer ideas for affordable passive solar eco homes using plywood prefab technology for quick erection and occupation. Each design allows for a precast concrete floor to be laid in the main living areas to provide thermal mass to store solar gain. The modular nature of each design allows a family to start small with a 2 BR plan, adding perhaps a Master BR suite and covered deck as family and finances grow.
The beauty of this Potius construction system is that being supported on pole foundations, these homes can be built on almost all sites from flat to steep, hard to soft. Now you can have all the benefits and features of a suspended concrete slab without the need of expensive foundations. Note that orientation to north or near north with clear access to sunlight in winter, is essential for comfort and energy efficiency.
As yet this prefab system is still in the development stage but all plans are available in regular construction methods right now from Ecotect Ltd, contact Mark for more details: mark@ecotect.co.nz. Fees for working drawings and specifications for any of these designs (including Potius floor / suspended concrete slab with conventional wall and roof framing) are offered at the super low price of $5000 plus GST (not including a completed site and drainage plan). Building Consent approval will be subject to local soil conditions and engineering requirements as well as local Planning rules but all other aspects comply with the NZ Building Code.
Please note these plans and designs are subject to copyright. A lot of work has gone into the development of these designs to bring you a low cost eco home solution. Why not take advantage of the low fee offer which will provide you with all the construction details necessary to ensure you receive a safe and healthy, warm and comfortable, ecologically sustainable, affordable home.
